Guide
Whether you're new to Silkroad or a long-time veteran, these notes will help: levelling path, build recommendations, the job system, unique hunting and frequently asked questions.
Getting Started
What to focus on at each level range.
Levels 1 - 20
Stay in the low-level areas around Jangan. With EXP x15 you'll hit level 20 in under half an hour. Don't spend money on gear at this stage; what drops is enough.
Levels 20 - 50
Start making your first mastery investments. In this range, forming a party and hunting as a group is far faster than going solo. The areas along the road to Donwhang are very efficient.
Levels 50 - 80
This is where you get into the job system. The trader caravan will be your first serious source of gold. Enhancing your gear up to +5 is plenty for this range; hold off on expensive upgrades until you're close to the cap.
Levels 80 - 100
Time to prepare for cap gear. Taklamakan and the desert regions are the most rewarding areas for both EXP and drops. It's also the right moment to find a guild and get ready for Fortress War.
Day-one shortcut
Create your account, download the client, make your character and start hunting right around Jangan. Thanks to EXP x15, you'll comfortably reach level 40 in your first session.Skill Build Recommendations
Built around cap 100 and 330 mastery points.
China · Blade & Lightning
Balanced and easy to learn. High movement speed and solid single-target damage. The safest Chinese pick for newcomers.
Blade 100, Lightning 100, put the remaining points into Force.
China · Glavie & Fire
High area damage that clears crowds fast. Slightly behind on single targets, but extremely useful for defending job caravans.
Don't neglect Fire; it gives you both damage and survivability.
China · Bow & Cold
Long range, safe hunting. Well suited to kiting in PvP. Its low durability means you need to learn good positioning.
Cold's slowing effect is your biggest trump card in PvP.
China · Sword & Force
Sword and shield plus Force's healing and resurrection skills. Keeps the party on its feet, and the most sought-after support build in Fortress War.
Level Force early; resurrection and group healing double your party's hunting power.
China · Spear & Cold
Long-reach spear strikes combined with Cold's freezing and slowing effects. A safe build for crowd hunting and uniques.
Combine Cold's shield with Spear's area attacks.
China · Blade & Fire
High burst damage on a single target. With Fire's damage buffs it's strong in PvP and Challenge duels.
Activate your Fire buffs before the fight; they're short but hit hard.
Job Guide
How the trader, thief and hunter triangle works.
Trader
Buy goods in one town and sell them in a distant one. The longer the route, the bigger the profit and the risk. Hiring hunters or travelling with guildmates is the safest way to protect your caravan.
Thief
Raid caravans and plunder their goods. Working alone is tough; ambushes and communication are essential. As your thief level rises, special shops and quests unlock.
Hunter
Protect the traders. You earn points when a caravan arrives safely. The most enjoyable job for players who don't shy away from PvP but don't want to deal with trading.
What are job points for?
As you collect job points, your job level rises. A higher job level means larger caravan capacity, access to the special job shop and a place in the job rankings. When you wear your job suit, PvP opens between you and players of other jobs; you're safe inside towns, but not on the road.
Unique Guide
What you need to know about hunting uniques.
Rules of the hunt
- When a unique spawns, a server-wide announcement goes out; everyone hears about it at the same time.
- The party with the highest damage share gets drop priority.
- You can try the lower-level uniques (Tiger Girl, Uruchi) with a party at around level 60.
- Demon Shaitan and Roc require a large, organised group.
- Don't wear your job suit in unique areas; you'll take damage and be open to PvP.
